Creating an environment where students are comfortable with each other and the work they accomplish. One of the ways that I have found effective with this is to display the students works around the classroom. When a student brings in a picture that he/she has drawn or color for myself I displayed it in the classroom.
Along with displaying work in the classroom, my teacher and myself display the students work on the bulletin board next to the classroom in the hallway for their parents, classmates and other students can see. By doing this, it gives the students an opportunity to show of their work and be proud of the work they have accomplished in school. It is so fun to watch the students point out which artwork is theirs, they point it out to their parents, brothers/sisters and even their friends that are either in the class or in another class.

2d: Managing Student Behavior
One of the privileges I received while doing my student teaching was the ability to work with a small group and design the activities for each day.
The picture above shows how I as a teacher try and work on managing student behavior. Each day when the students come in for workshop, they are responsible for their own actions and behavior. This jar is a way to help those students take responsibility for their own actions and behavior. They are given the opportunity each day to earn a marble that is put into the jar. If they can not act and behave like they know how to, then they lose their marble.
The line on the jar are goals the students are trying to reach by earning marbles every day. Once they reach a line, the students that have a certain number of marbles gets to participate in the reward they earned. My hope is doing this was to get those students who have a hard time behaving to try and earn their marble every day.
The picture below shows the schedule I have posted in the area that I work with each small group. This schedule is here to show the students what they or we are doing for the day. This is a procedure schedule I set up for the workshop group.

This image represents the seating chart that I designed for the students at the beginning of their new unit. Each time the students start a new unit, the teacher likes to create a new seating chart along with a new team points chart. The team points chart is a way each table to earn points randomly for doing what they are asked. This seating chart was for the last unit the students learned about.
While creating the seating chart, there were many things that I had to keep in mind. I had to make sure that each table had a low and high student. I also had to keep in mind those students who would not be able to get their work done sitting next to each other. A couple more things I had to keep in mind where those students who were behavior students, the students who needed to be close to the board and the students who needed to be close to the teachers desk.
